My team of fugitive hunters were having a ton of trouble this month trying to take a suspect off the streets. He would rob local convenience stores at gunpoint, then when his cash was blown on drugs and alcohol, would simply rob again. His actions put a dozen people in the hospital, yet he never left our city. The fact he could pop up at any moment really had the entire community on edge, and my superiors were asking my team to get this suspect into custody today.
One of the big issues we had when trying to catch this fugitive was that he had a network of friends we thought this was a game and would hide him from the authorities. Each time we thought we we closing in, he would simply have his friends call in a fake report, causing us to have to send resources to a location nothing was happening at. Our frustrations were growing as this suspect would once again strike at a local supermarket and make off with several thousand dollars.
Inside the local jail, we knew the suspect had family, so we tried to get them to speak about what or where this suspect would be up to next. They were silent as predicted, but this fell right into my new plan of getting them to run to the jail phones to warn our suspect. We knew Securus Technologies had recently installed the call monitoring system inside this facility, making it easier for officers to listen closely to all conversations between inmates and the outside world. As predicted, one cousin of our suspect squealed bout us being in the jail and told his family to keep him hidden a few days longer. This slip up was all we needed to be able to locate and finally build a case on this very dangerous fugitive.
